Assessments & Reports
We offer assessments for a number of purposes including determination of psychological injury, intellectual ability, level of school achievement, offenders and incarceration/rehabilitation, and behavioural disturbance in children. This is in addition to our extensive assessment service relating to Vocational Assessment and Career Planning. The instruments we use are all of superior reliability and validity, and are scored and initially interpreted with proprietary computer software. This results in superior reports which are then discussed at length with the client at a debriefing session. Two typical assessments and reports are discussed below:
Assessment for learning problems involves assessment with the Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children - 3rd Edition (WISC-III) and the Weschler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT). The Global Assessment of Test Session Behaviour (GATSB) is also administered. The WISC-III gives us a measure of the child's intellectual ability and using this we are able to predict their performance on the WIAT. If the child performs lower on the WIAT than we predict then an educational concern is evident. The resultant report can then clearly and with accuracy identify intervention strategies to address that concern.
Assessment for psychological injury involves use of a structured clinical interview and assessment with a test instrument such as the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory - 2nd Edition (MMPI-2). The MMPI-2 allows for the objective determination of a client's present personality functioning and hence is a very valuable indicator of whether a client suffers a psychological injury, the nature of that injury, and the extent of that injury. The resultant report may be forwarded to the client's solicitor if so requested, and the report will detail diagnosis, prognosis, and appropriate treatment for the injury.
