Nexus Consulting was founded in 1992 by Dr Lanning Sowden and Dr Susette Sowden. Since then it has grown to be an organisation with clients from throughout Australia and New Zealand, and also Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand. Nexus has formed partnerships and alliances with organisations in Australia, the UK and the USA. We also have a network of associates throughout Australia for the provision of psychological services. Lanning and Susette are proud that while Nexus has an international presence, Nexus remains a family owned business with a passion for its work, a dedication for personalised and quality service, and the focus typical of a quality boutique firm.

Lanning is a Chartered Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute and a Accredited Practitioner with the Australian Institute of Training & Development. He is also a member of the Australian College of Clinical Psychologists. Lanning has had experience overseas and in Australia as a research fellow, lecturer and tutor. He has worked at a number of universities including the University of St Andrews (Scotland), Dalhousie University (Canada), and the University of Melbourne (Australia). Lanning obtained his Ph.D. (in decision theory) from the University of St Andrews having been awarded two overseas scholarships. Lanning is responsible for all HR and Training consultancy undertaken by Nexus, and he is responsible for the strategic development of the business.
